Strike Episode!

Episode 27 is a "Strike Episode" in which the hosts reminisce about the 2007-2008 WGA writers' strike, including the November 2007 unaired UCB strike show that raised money for the Writers Guild relief fund. It opens with housekeeping: Andy's Late Night appearance, a New York Times Spelling Bee discussion, and Jorma's sauna story. The memorable moment is Amy Poehler's voicemail-style recollection of the UCB show and the Keenan/Jean Cajon sketch that came out of it. The episode then revisits that November 2007 UCB live show SNL staged during the strike. Voice notes from Michael Cera, Emily Spivey, Jack McBrayer, Will Forte, Fred Armisen, Simon Rich, Harper Steele and a "Lorne" impression circulate, while the hosts and Jorma recall Virginia Horsons, Nora Jones's singing, cue-card writing and the hairy-butt bit. The takeaway: an unaired, DIY strike show whose proceeds helped unemployed crew, and Jorma's Land of the Lost absence explains why he missed the season's final eight shows.
