The Other Man
Episode 88 opens with the hosts' word-game banter over Spelling Bee, Wordle, Connections and Letterboxd, followed by a Steel Magnolias and League of Their Own tangent and listener notes, including Akiva's daughter's ad read. They then watch the SNL Digital Short "The Other Man" starring Ryan Phillippe, recalling its Manhattan brownstone location and the House of Guinness homage to "Cool Guys Don't Look at Explosions," with Andy Samberg playing the Antonio Banderas-style "other man." The hosts riff on the sketch, then revive Mondo Butts with its new butt-themed set, Butts of the Week and a guest bit. Seth, Andy, Akiva and Jorma all appear, and the standout moments are Jorma's "Weird Al Pacino" family story and the hosts' Mondo Butts taping mishaps. The episode closes with Arco and Sisu tangents and the new tapper illustrations, while the big takeaway is the Glenn Powell-requested MacGruber news and the hosts' tongue-in-cheek "trope busting" bit.
